We Instil a Desire to Learn

British Secondary School in Valencia

Welcome to Caxton College, an innovative, dynamic, forward-thinking, nurturing school that puts your child first in the pursuit of achieving their individual goals and aspirations.

Being one of the most reputable family-run independent British schools in Spain and having achieved the highest grade in our last three British schools overseas inspections of Outstanding/Excellent, we are confident in our approach to teaching and learning in a safe and secure environment, developing well-rounded holistic students ready to ‘lead the way’ in our society and inspire the next generation.

Our pastoral care is second to none and we pride ourselves on a culture of respect, resilience, character building and fairness, developing that all important growth mindset, critical thinking and responsibility.

‘Honeste Vivere’ is our motto and it’s fair to say that we are so much more than just a school.

Mr Best and Ms Howells, Co-Heads of Secondary

Our main goal is not only to educate our students to achieve academic excellence but also for them to develop excellent values

"Pupils in secondary school have an excellent understanding of their own strengths and weaknesses which allows them to identify areas for improvement. They show initiative and are willing to take risks because of their trust in the school staff to support them. Older pupils say the school leader's encourage them to move ideas forward without fear."

Our Stages

Another Step Forward

This is the first stage of Secondary education. During these first three years, pupils have specialist teachers in each subject, as well as a tutor who provides support and guidance, in addition to overseeing the pupils’ well-being and general progress. Students at Key Stage 3 experience a broad and varied curriculum, developing a firm basis of skills and subject knowledge across a range of subjects.

Consolidating Their Vocations

These two years are the last stage of compulsory Secondary education. Whilst some subjects remain compulsory, the curriculum adapts to pupils, offering them a range of options when choosing optional subjects based on their preferences or future career choices.

During this stage, both teachers and tutors work closely in order to help students to acquire good study habits, to learn to take responsibility for their actions and decisions, to develop the ability to make informed and considered lifestyle choices and to use their time effectively: in summary, to develop as well-rounded individuals, who are ready for life beyond Caxton College.

Our Aims & Values

  • A sense of community through the ‘One School, One Community’ programme, whose aim is for pupils to accept diversity and multiculturalism in our school community.
  • The motivation to celebrate differences and cultural uniqueness through events for the whole school, such as international food fairs, talent contests or prize giving events.
  • The willingness to learn to treat others as we wish to be treated.
  • A sense of pride at benefiting from an excellent education and at the way in which each member of the community represents the school.
  • Recognition of personal and academic achievements of outstanding members of the school community.
  • The mutual respect required to create a community with strict procedures to protect students and whose chief aim is the overall well-being of all members of the school.

School Life

We aim for good mental health and healthy caring relationships

We work closely together to ensure that each pupil feels happy and safe at school, as well as progresses to a high standard, both personally and academically.

Co-curricular Activities

A Wide Range of Opportunities

We offer a wide range of co-curricular activities, which aim to develop a number of interpersonal skills such as confidence, respect, independence, collaboration and teamwork as well as integrating students from different cultures, year groups and classes and developing stronger relationships with peers.

These activities promote commitment and discipline and are the perfect opportunity to try something new, whether it be a new sport, a new intellectual challenge or perhaps something artistic.

Our Success is the Satisfaction of Our Families

Year 8

I am very grateful to the psychologist for her extraordinary empathy and professionalism. We are especially grateful for her dedication and commitment to pupils’ welfare and her readiness to help at all times. Once again, thank you for your excellent work and for making a positive difference to our childrens’ lives.

Year 10

We are very happy about our daughter’s academic results. With teachers such as yourselves, it is always a pleasure. I just wanted to let you know that we greatly admire the work of such good teachers.

Year 11

We are very grateful to all the teachers who organised and supervised the pupils of the History Dept trip to Berlin. Our daughter had an incredible time and you could tell just how enthusiastic and excited she was when she was telling us about her adventures. She also said that her group was fantastic and showed a true sense of community.

Year 11

I just wanted to say how brilliant this year’s musical is. Every year’s production surpasses the last one. The effort and dedication from the teachers, staff and pupils is amazing. Well done! A real jewel in Caxton’s crown.
