Reading For All Ages

We foster a love of reading

School Library

Our William Caxton Library contains more than 35,000 publications in paper and digital formats with a wide variety of titles and genres to meet all of our students’ needs. We are committed to organising activities for children to acquire good reading habits from an early age because, as Don Quijote de la Mancha said, “He that travels far, knows much.”

For Early Years and Primary Pupils

Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 classes visit the library weekly, where they not only enjoy story time with their teacher in the cosy reading area, to develop their love of reading and of books, but also have the opportunity to choose books to take home to read.

Primary children from Years 3 to 6 have two reading areas, one inside, and one outside, where they can enjoy the delightful Valencian climate whilst reading. Each week all of the Primary classes visit the Library to choose books to read at home.

For Secondary and Sixth Form Pupils

In their designated area, students have a wide range of fiction and reference works available, mainly in English and Spanish, but there are also general interest and teaching materials for other languages, such as Chinese, French or German, among others. They have two quiet study areas, as well as a cosy technology-free reading space. Teachers organise a series of activities for pupils to encourage reading and literacy.

Students may visit the Library during their breaks or study periods and may check out books to take home to read. An atmosphere of study is maintained in the Library so that they can make the most of their time.

Sixth Form students have their own ‘Quiet Room’ for use during break times or study periods.
