A Vocation for Excellence
From the age of 11, our students start to follow the Aspire programme, which includes both traditional classes and enriching extra-curricular activities, with the aim of discovering their abilities and helping them to discover their vocation. Additionally, they work with a careers guide designed to allow them to explore different degree programmes. To this end, they visit places of work, faculties and also receive talks at school from specialists who explain to them first hand about their own professions. Through this initiative, we encourage them to find their own way whilst always keeping the goal of academic and professional success in sight.
Curricular Lessons
We encourage our students to be decisive, respectful, responsible and organised. We also advise them when choosing their optional subjects at the end of Years 9 and 11.
Year 10 students receive sessions to train them in how to prepare for a job interview, and they then put these skills into practice in mock interviews with a full team of volunteer family members.
From Year 11, students follow a careers guidance programme to help them with their academic future both in the Sixth Form and at university.
Curricular Enrichment
During the school year, students from both Primary, Secondary and Sixth Form attend a series of talks from specialists in the fields of science, the arts, technology, business, and more. Many of them are Old Caxtonians who return to the school to share their experiences with us. With this annual programme of talks from visiting experts, we enrich each student’s academic portfolio, and give them a glimpse of real-life professional success stories.
Optional Subjects
The main aim of these events is to inform the Year 9 and 11 students about the optional subjects that they can study in the coming years for their I/GCSE or A Level exams, respectively. The Heads of Department provide detailed information about their subjects. All of this allows each student to choose the subjects which are most appropriate for their particular academic profile and interests.
Work Experience
Our Work Shadowing programme puts Secondary students in touch with local businesses, organisations and institutions, with the aim of coming into direct contact with the working world. This practical experience serves to help them with their careers guidance.
Links with Universities and Fairs
We carry out a series of visits to the main public Valencian universities and we also invite representatives from top private institutions to come to school to inform our Sixth Formers about the degree programmes and services they offer. Additionally, we organise an International Universities Fair attended by renowned international private universities.
International Universities
Our highly-trained teaching team offers personalised, individual support to Sixth Form students wishing to obtain a place at universities outside of Spain, mainly in the United Kingdom, Ireland, the Netherlands and the USA. We organise an annual University Workshop which consists of a full day of talks, lectures and workshops on the admissions process and how to write personal statements, among other activities.
