Health and wellbeing

Our clinic is open daily to attend to our students and staff, and to ensure their continued health and wellbeing.

School Clinic

We offer First Aid to anybody who should need it during the school day, providing the appropriate medical treatment, with the permission of the students’ families. We are a cardio-protected school, which means that we have semi-automatic defibrillators and all staff are trained to be able to use them in an emergency.

Additionally, the clinic regularly carries out Health Campaigns and gives both practical and theoretical talks for students on First Aid. They are also responsible for students’ diets, allergies and medication.

Speech therapist

Our students can count on the support of professional help with any speech difficulties, including speech or language, without having to leave the premises during the day.

They can request an appointment for an assessment and diagnosis of issues such as stuttering, dyslalia, pronunciation problems or dysphonia, among others.

The speech therapist will use some of the following techniques:

✦ The Doman early stimulation method

✦ Orofacial and myofunctional therapy

✦ Postural and vocal relaxation

✦ Prevention of dysphonia and voice re-education

Qualified professionals

The clinic is led by a team of two nurses. María Benedí, who graduated in Nursing from the Catholic University of Valencia, is a former student of Caxton College. Her experience in this field is based on previous positions of responsibility, above all in the Intensive Care Unit of the IVO and in the Maternity and Pediatrics Area of the 9 de Octubre Hospital in Valencia. She has completed a Master’s Degree in School Nursing, in order to specialise in health problems in school age children, as well as in promotion and prevention in children’s health. She is accompanied by Amparo Madrid, a nursing assistant.

In addition Dr. Mascarós, who specialises in family medicine, is available at the clinic once a week, to attend to any medical issues that students may be experiencing.
